Key Leadership: Nazzareno Giannelli, CTO
Technology Partners: Unreal Engine, Eagle 3D Streaming, Fab
Combining a rich background in product design with over a decade of technical expertise in Unreal Engine, Nas Giannelli has built a career bridging the gap between high-fidelity visual fidelity and practical, real-world application. As the CTO of R3PLICA, Nas is leading the charge to bring authentic, manufacturer-approved furniture and design assets directly into the hands of 3D creators.
Simultaneously, through his extensive consulting work, Nas utilizes Unreal Engine and Eagle 3D Streaming to deliver highly accessible, interactive experiences—ranging from virtual museum tours to AI-driven digital humans—proving that enterprise-grade 3D experiences can be seamlessly delivered to any user, regardless of their hardware or gaming experience.
In the realm of architectural visualization and interactive 3D, developers and designers face two distinct hurdles:
High-fidelity 3D environments usually require expensive hardware and a familiarity with complex video game controls (like WASD keyboards or dual-joystick controllers). For the average enterprise client or museum-goer, navigating these spaces can be frustrating and unintuitive, severely limiting the reach of the application.
Interior designers and architects frequently populate their Unreal Engine scenes with generic 3D models. When clients fall in love with a specific piece of furniture or finish in the visualization, designers are often forced to explain that the item doesn't actually exist, breaking the illusion and complicating the procurement process.
To tackle these challenges, Nas and the team at R3PLICA implemented intuitive cloud streaming solutions and developed a groundbreaking plugin ecosystem:
To make massive Unreal Engine environments accessible to the general public, Nas utilizes Eagle 3D Streaming. By moving the heavy computational lifting to the cloud, users can access high-fidelity environments on standard devices. More importantly, Naz completely overhauled the user experience to eliminate the need for traditional gaming controls.
"We developed over time a standard, a set of controls that make the navigation really easy. So everything... can be done with just the mouse and just double tapping to move and looking around like you do on Google Maps... simplifying the controls, retaining the fidelity and the quality of the experience." — Naz Giannelli
To solve the asset disconnect, R3PLICA partners directly with renowned furniture manufacturers (currently featuring over 60 brands) to digitize their collections. Available via Fab, the R3PLICA plugin allows designers to drag and drop highly accurate, manufacturer-approved assets—complete with exact dimensions, spec sheets, and full collections of authentic finishes—directly into the Unreal Engine editor.
"We are really trying to build a design tool, not just a 3D marketplace... we are focusing on creating correct replicas. And we make everything available right inside the Unreal Engine editor." — Naz Giannelli
Naz’s unique blend of creative and technical pipelines has driven several innovative projects:
Unlike traditional virtual museums that focus on the art, this project highlighted the museum's unique 1970s architecture. By utilizing Pixel Streaming, the team delivered a highly immersive, perfectly lit PBR (Physically Based Rendering) environment that users could explore effortlessly from a web browser, complete with an AI voiceover detailing the architectural history.
Consulting for Netherlands-based company Blitz, Nas integrated Unreal Engine Metahumans and CC5 into enterprise AI chatbots. Streamed via the cloud, these digital avatars provide a responsive, emotional "body" to AI text bots, maintaining a crucial human connection for enterprise customer support at scale.
Inside Unreal Engine, R3PLICA doesn't just provide assets; it provides data. R3PLICA detects which branded products are in a user's scene and features an "Outliner" that exports a CSV file of the exact products and finishes used, effectively automating the bill of materials for designers.
Whether building custom interactive environments or developing the R3PLICA platform, the focus remains on empowering the user and removing friction:
Pixel Streaming ensures that complex 3D environments maintain superior lighting and shading quality compared to WebGL, while completely removing hardware requirements for the end user.
"Pixel Streaming makes it so widely available. Basically, you can put an interactive experience right inside a regular web page and everybody with every kind of hardware can basically... play the experience." — Nas Giannelli
The R3PLICA plugin eliminates the need to hunt down accurate models or manually build product spreadsheets.
"Our payoff is 'more design time.' And every little choice in the UI UX and features added... is always targeted to make the architect, interior designer or creative professional in general work faster, even better, and more informed." — Nas Giannelli
Through his technical consulting and his leadership at R3PLICA, Nas Giannelli is actively removing the friction between creative vision and user reality. By leveraging Eagle 3D Streaming for effortless distribution and R3PLICA for true-to-life asset integration, the pipeline for architectural visualization is becoming faster, more accurate, and infinitely more accessible.
